River Rafting

Whether you are a first time thrill seeker or a seasoned river rat, there is no match for the adrenaline rush of rafting one of Iceland’s powerful rivers.
With endless mountains and huge glaciers producing thousands of rivers, Icelandic river rafting and white water kayaking opportunities are available all over the country at a range of skill levels. Major outfitters offer seasoned guides, instruction, safety training, and equipment rental for individuals and large groups. Most Icelandic rafting trips last about two hours and include all necessary transportation and equipment.
The most popular tours leave right from Reykjavík and offer rafters a scenic tour of Iceland’s countryside on the way to the river. Guests are provided with full dry suits and safety gear before beginning their journey. The river carves its way through high volcanic cliffs and forms rapids that are powerful but manageable for novice paddlers. The brave at heart can make a stop along the way to jump off a six meter cliff into the swirling water.
