Hostels offer a variety of options, including single, double, or family rooms. You can keep your travel costs down by staying at one of 36 Hostelling International Iceland hostels (HI hostels) which you’ll find around the country. Most of these are within walking distance of major attractions and very reasonably priced. As well as being comfortable and clean, they offer the opportunity for self-service, with HI hostels providing a well-equipped guest kitchen where you can cook your own meals. 

Green hostels

HI Iceland has its own internal policy, which actively encourages high standards of ecological and environmental practice. The hostels that meet these additional high standards are awarded the privilege of being called a Green Hostel, allowing them to display an environmental logo. There are currently several of these hostels in Iceland.
