Seafood Cellar - Sjávarkjallarinn

GOING UNDERGROUND

Situated in the oldest and probably the classiest cellar in Reykjavík at Aðalstræti one of Icelands oldest street, the Seafood Cellar has made a big name for itself in recent years with its delicious ‘New Nordic Cuisine’.

THE NEW NORDIC KITCHEN

The restaurant is renowned for its innovative dishes and stunning presentation ‘New Nordic’ style. The award-winning chefs are unabashed in their worship of all things fresh, seasonal and Icelandic, occasionally flinging their nets a little further afield to catch some wider Scandinavian goodness.

With obvious love and respect for both theiringredients and environment, the team at the Seafood Cellar have created something very special indeed.Dishes such as langoustine with sea buckthorn berries and spruce herb oil jostle for your attention with fried ling and an onion and hop sauce. Slow cooked monkfish cheeks with brown butter and hazelnuts make a colourful plate, as does the freshest, lightest seafood salad imaginable.

MORE THAN FISH

For those who want to alternate their fishy dishes, there’s tender lamb from Öxnadalur ‘A valley in the north of Iceland, famous for some of the best lamb in the world’ on the menu, as well as melt-in-the mouth beef fillet withpotato purée. Equally delicious are the prettiest of desserts and if you’re having trouble choosing what to eat, there are four- and five-course options which offer a heavenly selection of tasty morsels and for all the food lovers The Seafood Cellar serves a seven course menu with wines to match each course, seventh heaven perhaps.

Open daily for dinner from 18:00
