Valþjófsstaður in Fljótsdalur

A church site and ancient chieftain’s manor. A replica of the famous Valþjófstaðarhurð door, one of the most precious objects owned by the National Museum of Iceland, is kept there. It is from the 13th century and originally part of the manor, but later became the inner door at the large timber church that stood for centuries at Valþjófsstaður.
