Bóla is a farm in Blönduhlíð, best known for its association with poet Hjálmar Jónsson (Bólu-Hjálmar) who lived there from 1833-1843 in appalling poverty, which is the subject of much of his verse. A memorial to him has been erected there. Above the farm is Bólugil gully, which features in folk tales.
