Hrafnseyri

Hrafnseyri is a church and farm in Arnarfjörður, birthplace of independence movement leader Jón Sigurðsson (the anniversary of whose birth, on June 17, 1811 is the National Day of Iceland). A chapel and memorial museum, including a photographic exhibition, commemorate him and are open during summer. The farm was named after Hrafn Sveinbjarnarson, a 12th-13th century physician and chieftain who lived there.
