  • Kaldbakur tours accepts both cash and most major credit cards.
  • Due to weather and/or snow conditions we may have to alter the itinerary or cancel the tour.

Regular tours

Daily tours up Kaldbakur operate from January 1st through to May, depending on the snow conditions.
Tours depart daily at:
  • 10am
  • 1pm
  • 4pm
Minimum per tour is 10 adults.

The ride up Kaldbakur takes about 45 minutes. At the top we stop for approximately 15 minutes to enjoy the view. Our drivers can point out the many landmarks that can be seen from Kaldbakur. It is also a tradition to sign the Kaldbakur guest book that is kept in the Cairn. Passengers can then choose to ski, snowboard, walk and sled or just sit back and enjoy the ride down again in the snow cat. If the adventure bug bites, it’s possible to use one of our own designed Icelandic snow sledges, especially made for adults. They are big, strong and with enough room for two, great for the whole family!

Private Tours

Kaldbakur Tours also offer tours especially designed for individual groups. It is popular for work and sports groups to organize scenic and adventure tours. To try our sleges or take a mystery tour is great for group bonding and team building. Just make sure everyone has sturdy footwear and warm gloves.

Kaldbakur Mountain

Kaldbakur is 1.173 m high and is the highest peak in northern Eyjafjörður, overlooking the entire east Langanes and into the highlands. Kalbakur is considered to be one of Iceland’s energy spots and a trip up to the top is an unforgettable experience. A hike to the summit takes about three hours. On the western face of the mountain is a glacier and there the snow and ice stays all year round.
