Group on Solheimajokull glacier A couple from Scotland contacted Julia, the project manager of PlanIceland, and wanted to see their pictures on Sólheimajökull, a part of Mýrdalsjökull. So we Hertz provided us with a car so we could drive all the way over there.Solheimajokull glacier sunset We picked up the Margaret and Robert at their hotel in Reykjavik city and Stöð2 joined us to make reportage for their program “Ísland í dag” about our project “Get on the glacier” and to interview Margaret and Robert. After that we drove off to the glacier, it takes about 2 hours to get there. We enjoyed the landscape and Julia told some stories about the elves in Iceland. When we got to Sólheimajökull, Arcanum glacier tours welcomed us and gave us some useful equipment like crampons, helmet and other safety equipment and then we started to walk to the glacier. When we got to the glacier our guide instructed us about the safety.

And then we startet to walk to the box with all the profile pictures from people from all over the world

Margaret and Robert on the glacier They all had in common that they tried our "Get on the glacier" on Facebook game. Once we found the box, Margaret and Robert started to look after their Facebook profile pictures, and they found it! And they were so happy to see their photos!

Afterwords we went ice climbing

Ice climbing on Solheimajokull glacier And i must say that even though we walked a lot, it wasn’t a difficult walk because the landscape was so beautiful and the weather was also fantastic! The ice climbing was really fun, Robert was first out and it looked so difficult but he made it to the top, he did ice climbing 3 times! I tried it out one time, but let me say that it was really hard and exhausting, so way to go Robert! During our time on the glacier Stöð2 followed us and interviewed Margaret and Robert about their experience on Sólheimsjökull. After a day on the glacier we went back to Reykjavik but we also stopped at Skógafoss nearby. Really beautiful!  Solheimajokull in Iceland
